Optional Add-Ons & Kit Enhancements
No two properties are exactly the same — and neither are the sheds that go on them. That’s why we offer a broad selection of optional features and custom upgrades you can include in your shed kit to better match your site, usage, and climate.
Some popular additions include:
- Roller Doors: Choose from standard manual or remote-operated options. Wind-locked designs are also available for high-wind or coastal areas.
- Personal Access (PA) Doors: Pre-hung steel doors with locks for secure, easy access without needing to open a roller.
- Windows: Add sliding or fixed windows for extra light and ventilation. Perfect for workshops or lifestyle sheds.
- Insulation Packs: Choose between 4mm or 8mm roof and wall insulation to help manage condensation, reduce heat in summer and keep warmth in during Tassie winters.
- Whirlybirds & Roof Ventilation: Improve airflow and reduce humidity build-up, especially in closed or partially enclosed sheds.
- Gutter & Downpipe Kits: Help manage roof runoff and protect the slab or surrounding area from erosion.
- Vermin Flashings: Add a layer of protection at the base to keep pests, leaves, and dirt out of your shed.
- Additional Height or Extra Bays: Need a bit more clearance or want to extend the shed laterally? Easy — we can increase the height or add more bays to suit.
- Translucent Skylight Roof Sheets: Let in natural daylight and reduce the need for powered lighting.
All optional upgrades are made from matching quality materials and are fully compatible with your shed frame and cladding.
What’s Included with Every Shed Kit
All our shed kits are complete and ready to assemble — no missing pieces, no guesswork, and no low-grade materials. When you order a kit from MSB, here’s what you get:
- Pre-cut, pre-punched galvanised BlueScope® C-section steel frame
- Genuine Colorbond® sheeting for the roof and walls, with matching ridge caps, barge flashings, and corners
- All structural bolts, fixings, brackets, tek screws, and fasteners required for full assembly
- Site-specific engineering documentation – includes structural design, pier or slab layout, and wind rating certification
- Engineering certificates for your council
- Straightforward DIY instructions and guidance for self-install or to hand off to a builder
- Delivery to your site or nearest depot anywhere in Tasmania
Everything is purpose-built to go together properly — no patching things up or trying to retrofit components that weren’t made to match.
Genuine Australian Materials – Colorbond® and BlueScope® Steel
We only use top-grade, Australian-made materials that are trusted in the industry and proven to stand up to the elements:
- BlueScope® Galvanised Steel – Durable, corrosion-resistant, and structurally strong enough for Tasmania’s harsher weather zones
- Colorbond® Cladding – Tough, low-maintenance sheeting available in a wide range of modern and classic colours
- Choose from the full Colorbond® colour palette at www.colorbond.com
Everything we supply is backed by genuine manufacturer warranties, with up to 20 years coverage on materials — no off-brand imports or cheap substitutes.
Custom Sheds to Suit Your Property
While we have a range of popular pre-designed shed sizes, we understand that not every site is standard. If you’ve got unique clearance needs, extra-wide machinery, or a layout in mind that’s not on the shelf, we can create a custom shed kit to suit.
From minor changes like extra height, roller door placement, or side-wall enclosures — to fully custom sheds designed from the ground up — we’ll work with you to create a design that fits your block, budget, and purpose.
Designed for Tasmania — Site-Specific Wind & Terrain Ratings
Tasmania has some of the most varied terrain and microclimates in the country — from open farmland and exposed hills to calm, forested valleys. That’s why every MSB shed is individually engineered for your exact site conditions.
Your kit will be designed to meet:
- Regional wind speed classifications
- Terrain categories – whether you’re in open country or built-up areas
- Building importance level – depending on whether your shed is domestic, rural, or commercial
- Snow load considerations – especially for elevated or southern inland regions
We’ll handle the wind assessment as part of your quote process, ensuring your shed will not only pass council but also withstand the elements for years to come.
