Custom Size Skillion Carports
Introducing the flat roof carport from MSB, also known as the skillion roof carport design. This carport design is available in various sizes and can be customised to suit your specific size requirements. This design boasts and utilizes a sturdy and durable heavy-duty steel construction method, of high tensile Australian made C section purlins and SHS galvanized columns.
MSB offer a full range of skillion carports for sale, including an economic galvanized frame, to an all colour post and beams version.
Flat Roof Carport Kits for DIY
The flat roof carport has three roof angles: 2 °, 5 °, and 10 °. If the roof falls 2 °, it will fall approximately 400mm over six meters.
The frame is made up of galvanised steel, which is pre-punched and ready for you to bolt together.
We can also arrange a full-colour version with high gloss-painted beams, rafters, and posts. These make for a highly attractive home addition and are generally 20%- 30% dearer than the galvanized frame option.
The posts are cut to length but not pre-punched. You will need to drill these as you build. We can supply a suitable drill bit upon request.
This style of carport is the easiest to construct. We supply a full construction guide and a set of engineering and architectural plans.
Colour Flashings
One of our main points of difference, apart from being heavy-duty in design, is that we provide a full-width fascia flashing that wraps around all four sides, as shown in this picture. We even give this flashing a nice little safety fold on the bottom edge to provide a nice, neat, straight line.
Our DIY kits come complete with all brackets and fasteners to complete the project, including all bolts, tek screws and colour-coded pop rivets.
This skillion roof design can be used as a simple roof cover or can be utilised as a great-looking quality addition to your home.
Guttering & Downpipe
When you are building your carport, you will want a gutter to collect the water runoff and a downpipe to take the water away. These items, as well as ancillary items such as a dropper and pop rivets, are included in the kit. We can even supply a tube of silicone upon request. The guttering and downpipe components are all made from genuine Colorbond steel and come in the full range of Colorbond’s colours.
Offset Post Options
When designing a carport for a client, we often get asked if we can offset the posts, usually to allow for a walkway or to fit in a certain area or whatever the case may be. The answer is yes, we can do this. However, there are engineering rules we need to follow to ensure the structure is still adequately supported. The rules are;
- We can move the posts on the bearer side only, so this is the side that does not have the gutter running along it, and
- we can move the posts to a maximum of 800mm
We can alter these rules in certain instances, depending on size, wind load, and a few other factors. If you need your posts moved, just ask us, and we will do our best to accommodate your post position requirements..
