Looking for DIY Kit Carports?
Our carport kits are straightforward designs that most people with building experience can use to build a professional-looking finish. Alternatively, you can hire your builder and oversee the project to save costs. The carport kit designs can be customised to fit your size requirements. With our pre-fabricated Gold Coast carports, you have full control over your project.
Easy to build Steel Designs
Our steel carport designs include a detailed plan for footings, sheeting layout, and a construction guide. Builders appreciate our carport designs for several reasons:
- Pre-cut and pre-drilled rafters, bearers, and purlins
- Pre-made and pre-drilled brackets for each connection point
- Posts cut to size
- Pre-made flashings
- Guttering, end caps, and downpipes included
- Nuts, bolts, screws, and pop-rivets provided
- Easy-to-construct heavy-duty designs
Additionally, the entire kit is delivered directly to your Gold Coast building site.
Gable Roof Carports
You can choose from four different roof pitch options – 10, 15, 20, or 25 degrees – for a design with a gable roof. This gives you the flexibility to match your house’s roof or to have extra clearance height.
See more info on our Classic Gable with gable end infills and Open Gable.
Skillion Roof Carports
Our skillion carport features a modern roof design known as a mono-pitch roof or skillion roof. It has a single rafter that slopes from the high side to the low side. The roof is available in 2, 5, or 10-degree slope options, making it easy to blend the structure into the surrounding environment.
Carport with Roller doors
Looking to make your home more secure and convenient? Think about adding a lockable carport with a roller door at the front of your home. We offer many different cladding options, from a weatherboard look to a garage style. If you’d like to create your own design, we can provide the frame only, allowing you to use your own cladding.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need planning permission to build a carport on the Gold Coast?
In order to build a carport on your property, it’s important to obtain approval from the council. Specific rules must be followed, and these will be explained in further detail. The council approval process is usually straightforward and involves submitting the following documents via email:
1. Site plan: This is a map of your property showing the location of the proposed carport in relation to other buildings, fence lines, and boundaries.
2. Engineering plan and Form 15 for the carport (can be provided by MSB).
3. Application forms.
It is recommended to discuss your plans with the council office before beginning any construction. They are helpful and can provide guidance over the phone on your basic requirements.

How much does it cost to build a carport on the Gold Coast?
If you want to buy yourself a pre-fab DIY kit and build it yourself, you can save thousands. You can save additional through working through your council approval process and submitting your approval application and documents. One thing I would not skimp on is the concrete. Do yourself a favour and get the professionals in for this part; your flooring makes the job look great, so it’s good to have this done right. It can be costly if not done correctly. But if you were to engage a builder to build it for you, depending on style, design and size, and inclusions, typically a double-size carport fully installed will cost you between $15,000 to $30,000 based on a double size roof structure, much like the designs we sell here at MSB. If you want to save yourself some money, you can purchase a Kit for a double-size carport, and this will set you back anywhere from $4,500 to $15,000 depending on style, design and inclusions.
